Some shops feel like they were always meant to exist. For me, A Simpler Life is one of them.
Founded right here in Uppingham by Elaine, this little shop has been quietly helping Rutland households make more sustainable choices for years — one refill at a time. So, when the opportunity came for me to take it on and carry that mission forward, I didn't hesitate for a second.
I grew up around retail, being part of a family business, so the shop floor feels like home to me, and I am excited to turn it into my own family business.
I'm Becky, and I've lived in Rutland long enough to know that this community doesn't need to be convinced that the way we shop matters. You already know. You're already here.
Sustainable living isn't something I came to recently. It's been woven into how I think and how I live for some time now.
Along with my new adventure, I'm currently studying the gut-skin connection — which means when it comes to what we put on/in our bodies and in our homes, I genuinely care about what's in the products on these shelves, not just what's on the label.
What you'll find at A Simpler Life is a carefully chosen range of refill cleaning and personal care products, plastic-free alternatives, loose pantry goods, and zero-waste lifestyle essentials. All selected because they work, because they're better for your home and the planet, and because every small swap genuinely adds up to something significant.
We also offer a local delivery service to Oakham and the surrounding villages, so living simply doesn't have to mean going out of your way.
